Poznań Book Fair of Literature
for Children and Teenagers (PST) is the first book fair in Poland
devoted entirely to literature for children and teenagers. The fair,
sponsored by the Minister of Culture, the Minister of Education,
the Marshall of the Poznań Voivodship and the Mayor of the city
of Poznań, was inaugurated in June 2002 on the premises of the former
imperial palace in Poznań, currently the seat of the Zamek Cultural
Centre. The first PST fair was attended by thirty publishers and
was accompanied by an exhibition of Danish books and of collections
of illustrations from the Bolonia Children's Book Fair 2002. We
organised a panel discussion called "the book and the child
the opening of the world" and took the participants on "literary
trips into the wonderworld."
The second PST book fair will last from 30the May to 1st June 2003.
The fair will be accompanied by conferences, discussions, book promotions,
exhibitions, concerts and workshops with children. A special guest
of PST II will be Kanon Książek dla Dzieci i Młodzieży (Literary
Canon for Children and Teenagers). On the 1st of June, the closing
day of the fair and International Children's Day, PST will promote
and celebrate the habit of reading aloud during a grand read-aloud
event.
